Seferino’s Journey Home

A soldier comes before the Lord,
He is asked to account for his life.
Lord, I did not pray when I should have
Because I did not have the time,
For you see my job had taken me into deadly hostile grounds
But I did pray as I wept when my friends
Died in my arms.

I was asked to defend against tyranny in your name
And at times had to break your golden rules.
Time did not allow me to pray and ask for forgiveness.

Lord, if there is no room in your kingdom I can understand
Because I have not been the perfect soul.
I have lived all over the world, away from my family and
I neglected them for the sake of defending this country
From evil that invades it more than ever.

Lord, my children do not know me as well as you
Because time has kept them away from me.
I kept to myself hoping that I would change to be a better
Person when it was time to leave,
But Lord I have failed.

Lord, I have given but taken no more than what I needed.
My choices were mine and I must pay the price.
I ask your forgiveness and if there is no room for me,
I will understand.
As he finishes his last few words there are the distant sounds of thunder
As the sky opens.  As sweet as the taste of honey a voice appears.

“Seferino, my son, I made you a warrior for the sake of peace.
You have done your job well and have spent your time in hell,
Surely, you have earned the right to enter my kingdom.”

I Love you, Brother,
